The Indiana State Department of Health, Division of Nutrition and Physical Activity, is now accepting applications from schools interested in creating supportive nutrition and physical activity environments for all students and staff, which also engaging families and the greater community, by setting two goals related to nutrition & physical activity. Funds will be awarded for up to $10,000 per school district per year for a total of three years. Public and private school districts located in Indiana that participate in the National School Lunch Program are eligible. Overall Scope of the Grant: Create supportive nutrition and physical activity environments for all students and staff and engage families and the greater community by setting two goals (nutrition and physical activity). Why INSHAPE encourages you to apply: Grant recipients . . . - Receive funding, technical assistance, professional development and guidance to meet new ESSA requirements, specifically in nutrition and physical activity.
- Learn how to use assessment tools like the School Health Index.
- Use grant money to attend the INSHAPE state conference and other professional development opportunities.
- Will be in a better position to advocate for the health and well-being of students.
One more reason to apply: it's not just a $10,000 grant. It is a $10,000 per year for three years (beginning August 1, 2019 and ending July 29, 2022).

Just released
The National Standards for Sport Coaches task force has proposed 42 revised standards. Coaches, coaching educators, administrators, athletes and the public use the National Standards for Sport Coaches for direction regarding the knowledge and skills that coaches should possess.

School visits
Athletes for Hope is an organization of college, Olympic and professional athletes who have a deep commitment to giving back and making a difference. Some athletes are available to visit a school in their community to support the school's efforts in providing physical education and physical activity. Typically the athlete shares his/her story, leads some physical activities.
