Introducing FLEX . . . and DASH

INSHAPE's New Mascot

The membership has spoken. The vote has been tallied. You have chosen FLEX as the name of the official INSHAPE mascot. FLEX has a "sidekick" who now is known as DASH, the second most voted name.
They represent all that is good about INSHAPE. In the future, they will share more of their story.

Advocacy Workshop

July 3, 2018 (no cost)

The Advocacy Council workshop is open to all members interested in learning more about elevating the importance of quality health and physical education. Learn how to effectively influence school policy, culture, and climate. Opportunities to engage with state and national policymakers will also be discussed. (Limited capacity, lunch provided)

Seniors and 7th Graders

Moving through the ages

Perhaps there is a way to connect students with local seniors around a mutually beneficial goal.“I wanted my students to become involved in the community,” said Janet Folchetti, middle school physical education teacher at Norwalk (CT) Public Schools. Once a week, a group of senior citizens came to her gym to share PE activities led by the seventh graders.

BSU Makes Impact

After school dance education

One week it might be salsa, the next it could be jazz, but youngsters at Muncie, Indiana, elementary schools are learning about the art of dancing, thanks to the efforts of students from Ball State University. "DANCE! Muncie After-School” is a free program led by Ball State students for Muncie Community School students grades first through fifth to gain exposure to the art of dance.
