Fostering regular information sharing.
Board members are encouraged to share
this information with members of their councils and committees.
Victory field - July 25, 2017: All smiles at the Indiana AHPERD night at the ball park.
From the president's desk:
Well, here we are . . . 'back to school' time! July has been a busy month for the association as we prepare for a great 2017-2018. Please take
a few minutes to review the important information below. Before you start, take a moment to save the date for a special Zoom (web teleconference)
board meeting set.
Please mark your calendar for Wednesday, August 23 (7:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.). I realize it is a busy time of year for everyone.
Therefore, we have but one agenda item for our brief 30 minutes meeting.
Other matters will be on the agenda for the next regularly scheduled Board meeting (September 9th).
- Association branding/naming (8/23 board meeting topic):
Based on experiences from other state associations, the executive committee feels it is important to take up the
naming/branding committee's standing recommendation. A package of information will be sent in advance of the meeting for
your review.
- Executive committee elections
will be held at the September board meeting for the following three positions:
1)
Secretary,
2)
VP/Membership,
3)
President-Elect.
Please contact
Gary Lemke
if you wish to be a candidate or if you want to nominate someone.
- Financial report
: For the first month of the fiscal year (June), total income is 298% of target, expenses are 115% of target, and the net income exceeds
target by $1,673. Detailed financial reports will be reviewed at the September board meeting.
- Membership report
: Over the next few months, we will transition to a professional membership management system. This significant undertaking
will require integrating
many disparate sources of current, past, and prospective members. In the end, we will have the platform from
which we can boost membership in the years ahead.
- Conference registration:
The
conference program
has been published and early bird registration is now open. Currently, conference registration is 48 people ahead of where we were
last year at this time. I encourage you to take advantage of early bird registration (ends 9/1).
- Conference highlights:
We have two exceptionally strong general session (keynote) speakers to kick off each morning.
The Centennial Celebration on Thursday afternoon (Nov 2nd)
will be unlike
any previous conference social. OK, it's going to be the best party we have ever had! A disc jockey will lead entertainment on the dance floor.
We have celebrity guests, thousands of dollars in giveaways, food and drink, games, and other cool surprises.
The festive spirit continues into the evening with a banquet honoring award recipients. This will definitely be
a party to remember.
- Expo hall update
: The majority of spots have already been filled. However, we still have room for a few more vendors.
Bethany Clegg
is heading up our expo hall efforts. Please
contact her if you know someone interested in exhibiting.
- Sponsorship update
:
Kim Duchane,
chair of the Sponsorship Committee, needs your help.
If you purchase health and physical education equipment for your school,
he would like to know the name of the company (and a specific sales representative if known)
so he can contact them to determine their interest in sponsoring an event at the state conference.
- Please make a note of it:
See the association
calendar,
for a list of future board meetings. All board members are asked to submit their council/committee report
to the secretary a week in advance of the board meeting.
I encourage you to forward this information to members of your councils and committees. You can expect to receive more information in
via upcoming email newsletters.
