Conference Workshops

Three options: fitness, sports, social-emotional learning

Be prepared to be inspired!   The 2019 INSHAPE State Conference offers three exciting workshops in three areas: fitness, social-emotional learning, and sports. These optional workshops take place on Tuesday, November 5th at Grand Park during regular conference hours. Secure your spot when you register for the conference. Here are your options:
 
The Mind-Body Connection (Social-Emotional Learning): This workshop is led by ten Indiana educators supported by a grant from the Indiana Department of Education. You will learn about social/emotional programs and tools specifically for Indiana schools and the best practices from the SHAPE America national event for social/emotional learning.     Sponsored by the Indiana Department of Education
 
NFL FLAG-In-Schools Training (Sports): You'll learn how to deliver NFL FLAG in your school using curriculum created in partnership with SHAPE America Plus, all attendees will receive a free NFL FLAG-In-School kit (Value: $410). The package offers FLAG football resources schools need to uplift and support a school's physical education program.    Sponsored by Fuel Up to Play 60
 
YOUR BODY IS POWER (Fitness): PLYOGA is a 4-part high intensity interval training system using accelerated and fundamental Yoga as a fluent and active recovery for Plyometric movements. This workshop will give you an updated understanding of reactive movement and exercise mechanics for use as an educator.     Sponsored by PLYOGA
 
Each 3-hour workshop includes complementary lunch. Space available on a first-come, first-served basis. A modest fee may apply.

Pre-Conference

Recess & Results Certification

Earn extra income leading entertaining exercise programs for kids! Recess & Results exercise classes build healthy habits, confidence and character in kids . . . and a bank account for you! Bring this play-based fitness class to your church, neighborhood park, local preschool, after-school program, your own backyard, or new kid spaces in your community. (INSHAPE members save $100)

OPEN Training

Adapted PE options available

The Indiana State Department of Health is offering free workshops that will broaden and bolster the instructional capacity of physical activity and education with an in-depth look at the OPEN Source Curriculum Project. This activity-based training will focus on easy ways to engage students and teach lessons that ensure academic rigor and inspire movement.

Now in its third year, the weeklong campaign is a fun, immersive way to introduce parents to the physical education program at their child's school.
