Never Be Socially Distant From INSHAPE

Supporting each other is the power of INSHAPE. We will be that powerful assocation you have engaged through your membership, conference registrations, and support.

Regardless of membership status, we are here to help all educators.

As an organization representing thousands of health and physical educators as well as administrators, researchers, coaches, college students and other professionals, INSHAPE is dedicated to the promotion of quality health, physical education, sport, dance, and fitness in public and private schools.

Next month, you will see new opportunities and new benefits for members and prospective members. In the meantime, catch up on important announcements regarding Indiana education plans and policies.
  • Schools remain closed:   Pursuant to Governor Holcomb’s Executive Order (4/2/20), all K-12 schools in Indiana shall not conduct in-person instruction for the remainder of the school year.
    • Early focus on "e-Learning" has shifted to "continuous learning."
    • Teachers matter: closures highlight the need for meaningful teacher-student engagement.
    • Many families are discovering or re-discovering the importance of regular physical activity.

  • Required Contiuous Learning Plans:   In response to closures for the remainder of the semester, all public school districts, charter schools, and eligible K-12 schools, must submit a Continuous Learning Plan to the Indiana Department of Education by April 17.
    • The plan (template, rubric) must describe delivery of learning, detail achievement monitoring, attendance tracking, and a plan for staff development.
    • A Continuous Learning Guidance Document is available for your review. Minimum daily student commitment recommendations (page 12):
      • Pre-K:   30 minutes
      • Grades 1-6:   45 - 90 minutes
      • Grades 6-12:   30 minutes per teacher (3 hours max per day)

  • Graduation 2020:   The Indiana State Board of Education has provided guidance on how the 2020 Cohort will be eligible for an Indiana diploma.

Together, we can enable a state where all children are prepared to lead healthy, physically active lives. While social distancing, everyone can model the choice to stay positive and test negative.

The health. moves. minds.™ program brings the lessons, activities, and community-building ideas that can help kids live their best lives. Inspire healthy habits, fuel active minds, and teach kids to thrive physically and emotionally with this new service-learning program.
